Winners for the 2nd annual Esteem Awards were announced at a cocktail reception held on July 2, 2008 at Sidetrack in Chicago’s historic Boys town neighborhood. The event was attended by 300 people.

The standing room only event was attended by a who’s who of supporters of Chicago’s LGBT citizenry including Bill Greaves of the City of Chicago Commission on Human Rights Advisory for LBGT Issues;  Party  Promoters Ken Beach and Craig Cannon, of KC Productions; Ariq Cabbler and Bernard Johnson of Rails Entertainment; Catherine Jefcoat, Director of Howard Brown’s Lesbian Community Care Project (LCCP), Barbara Bolsen, VP of Programs for The Night Ministry;  and Mr. Jerry Liwanag, VP of Fundraising for the local PBS affiliate WTTW, whom accepted a special award for In The Life, the long running gay documentary magazine on PBS.

The Awards were presented in 12 categories selected by a panel of judges from across the country. In all over 23 awards were presented to local and national organizations.
