The Chicago Reader is Chicago's largest free weekly newspaper, nationally recognized as a leader in the alternative press. Since 1971, the Reader has served as Chicago's political conscience, cultural guide, and music authority.

Mick Dumke is an associate editor for the Chicago Reader, where he writes frequently about politics and environmental issues. He was previously an investigative writer and editor for The Chicago Reporter and a staff reporter for newspapers in Michigan and Virginia; along the way he's also written for the Chicago Tribune Magazine, the Washington Post, Colorlines magazine, and other publications. Mick is an adjunct journalism professor at Northwestern University.
Ben Joravsky is a staff writer for the reader since 1990, Ben Joravsky has been writing about Chicago politics since the early 1980s. He's written or co-written four books: Race and Politics in Chicago; The Middle Class in Chicago; Hoop Dreams and Tomorrow's Still Sunday.
