The mission of the Esteem Awards is to promote fair, accurate, and positive images of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, including their allies. It addresses challenging issues through the arts and other disciplines, shaping narratives and provoking dialogue for cultural change, while honoring past and present accomplishments and envisioning a world of complete acceptance.

Since 2007, PrideIndex.com's Esteem Awards has honored local and national organizations and individuals for their continued support of African American and LGBTQ+ communities in entertainment, media, civil rights, business, and art.
